John Hendricks was the guest today on BroadcastMastery.com’s Radio Obits. After producing the show, I read an article at Radio Ink’s website regarding radio being dead… Radio Ink had the following headline today… “Our Business Is Content” and I agree…
It’s not radio that is dead… or dying… it’s the personality in radio. I talked at length about this topic with John Hendricks, a broadcast consultant. We chatted at length about what makes radio good radio? It’s the content, it’s connecting with the listener, it’s being local… Podasting and New Media is doing this… they are being local… sometimes a lot better than local radio is.
How do we give the listener something more to connect to? We need to talk about them and bring them into the conversation.
AND we NEED to utilize these technologies to bring in additional listeners to the station by providing them with content that they can’t get anywhere else online.
